Exploding head syndrome (EHS) Exploding head syndrome (ehs) is a type of parasomnia characterized by sudden, loud, imagined explosions or other noises that occur during sleep onset or awakening. Ehs can result in fear, anxiety, and disrupted sleep and is often associated with stress, depression, and sleep deprivation.
