Idiopathic hypersomnia
Idiopathic hypersomnia is a rare sleep disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, despite getting enough sleep at night. Individuals with idiopathic hypersomnia may have difficulty waking up in the morning, and may also experience prolonged periods of sleep during the day, even if they have slept for an adequate amount of time the night before. The exact cause of idiopathic hypersomnia is unknown, and there is currently no cure for the condition. Treatment typically involves lifestyle changes, such as avoiding caffeine and other stimulants, and taking short naps during the day to help manage symptoms. In some cases, medications may also be used to help improve wakefulness during the day.
